Coping

Life with persistent worry, whether from panic attacks, phobias, or generalized anxiety, can be a life full of stress and tension. To make living with an anxiety disorder more livable, a person needs to find ways to relax, get more rest, and deal with stress in healthier ways.

To relax, a person with anxiety could try meditation or take up an absorbing hobby. And don't underestimate the power of healthy eating and regular exercise.

Adequate sleep will also help. Getting a good night's sleep may require a few lifestyle changes, such as steering clear of caffeine (which will help relieve the symptoms of anxiety, too) and creating sleep rituals. Sleep deprivation, caused by anxiety or by a sleep disorder, can have serious consequences.

A fit, strong, well-rested body may better deal with the stress that can come along with an anxiety or phobia. For other ideas, read up on some stress-busting tips.
